Big, BIG Firefly News

By now, Browncoats everywhere should have heard the news, but just in case you've been living under a rock, Nathan and the Firefly cast have announced their attempt for an animated season 2. They have show runners, an animation house, the blessing of the powers that be; all they need is a streaming platform or studio to pick it up!!
HERE'S HOW BROWNCOATS CAN HELP:
First, find that original Instagram post on the @oncewewerespacemen account - it's pinned to the top of their feed - and watch it, heart it, comment on it and share it! Word is, Nathan will be using the metrics and engagement collected around that post as a way to sell platforms on the idea that there is a huge and engaged audience for that show.

Now, we know that the average Browncoat won't stop there. We suggest your next step would be to get involved with the #BringBackFirefly movement. Browncoats from all over the world, including some of the OG Browncoats who were part of the original push to get the Serenity movie made and the Browncoat Backup Bash off the ground, and leadership from some of the still active Browncoat fan groups (including this one) have come together to coordinate fan support. We have an Instagram acct: @Bring.Back.Firefly and a facebook page and a twitter/x account (@BringBackFirefly,) where we provide info on the campaign and current strategies.
The focus right now is to flood social media with the #BringBackFirefly hashtag, participate in a weekly rewatch coordinated by the Reddit Firefly community and be a part of a snail mail letter writing campaign - more on that below! But there is a larger plan in the works, follow along to be a part of it.
There are still so many things we don't know about what Season 2 will look like, and we know that people have extremely strong feelings about WHAT it should look like, and WHO should be involved, but those questions are all moot if we don't help the Captain get this ship off the ground.
Browncoats at WonderCon
We will be at our usual spot at WonderCon (March 27-29) Booth 889, at the back of hall B. And we still have space for a few volunteers! If you will be attending and would like to spend an hour two with us, here's the link to our volunteer form!

We know that everyone is excited and ready to talk Firefly, and so are we, so don't be shy! Stop by for some animated discussion, some shopping and of course, the Charity Chopstick Game! We're supporting the late Ron Glass' favorite charity, The Wooten Center, and as Nathan and Alan agreed on their podcast, Once We Spacemen (Episode 2, I believe) Shepherd Book was the very soul of Firefly. So please help us lift up this beautiful organization, in his name.
We will have some shiny merch, including the Shindig Challenge Coin, designed by Nick Kremenek in celebration of Serenity's anniversary, as well as the new Kanji pin, also designed by him! New prints by Nick, and by Mike Collins, and lots of other shiny new stuff.

We have some other shiny things happening at WonderCon, including a way to participate in that Snail Mail Letter Writing Campaign we were talking about before! Stop by the booth to add your message to a beautiful postcard - so far, art has been donated by Mike Collins and William Pace - about why Firefly deserves a Season 2. We will collect those postcards and when we hear from Nathan's team about which Platform/Studios he is shopping the project to, we will address, stamp and mail those suckers all at once. This timing is being coordinated with Browncoat groups around the world, to make the most impact.

We also have a Browncoat Meeting Room Panel! Friday, 3/27/26, 9:00PM - 10:00PM, Room: 211. Time to catch up with the Browncoat family, explore what’s new in the ‘Verse (and suddenly, there's quite a lot!) We also have a very shiny, top secret surprise. You won't want to miss it.
We also have a Browncoat Board Game Night at WonderCon, Saturday night from 8 PM to 10 PM. Family friendly Firefly fun!

Browncoat Ball, 2026 - In Utah
If you came to our Shindig last year, you know how much fun the Browncoat Ball is - the dancing, the dressing up (or dressing the part,) the beautiful community! This year it's still on the West side of the country, hosted by the Utah Browncoat Society in Zion! Just picture it - twirling under all the stars in the Milky Way, Browncoat family reunions in dusty ghost towns, a backdrop right out of the 'Verse. Can you tell we're excited? If you haven't ever attended, all we can say is that the Ball is the closest most of us will come to living our Firefly dreams. AND! California Browncoats did rent a very large cabin, with a screened in porch full of bunk beds. There are still some of those beds available, so if you're a single traveller, looking to bunk down on a budget, send us a message and we can discuss! Either way, we hope to see you there. While you ponder, enjoy a few of the photos from Browncoat Ball Los Angeles!
