Sean Maher, Lea DeLaria (“Big Boo” from Orange is the New Black), Jasika Nicole (Fringe, Welcome to Night Vale) and more LGBT stars from the stage and screen are joining The Box Scene Project and BAYCAT to celebrate LGBT media on Sunday, August 17 at the Robert Frost Auditorium in Culver City, CA. The Box Scene Project is launching their Mirror Scholarship & Fellowship, commemorating BAYCAT’s 10 Years Bold Anniversary, and spotlighting LGBT artists and actors to bring attention to the impact and importance of LGBT media representation.

The benefit will feature a one-hour panel & Q&A featuring LGBT actors and creators, Lea DeLaria (OITNB, Broadway), Amy Fox (The Switch), Sean Maher (Firefly, Serenity), Crissle West (The Read), Julie Vu (The Switch), and more. Also, this year’s keynote speaker and recipient of The Box Scene Project’s Spotlight Award is kick-ass mom, LGBT activist, and viral contributor to The Huffington Post, Amelia. The panel and keynote will be followed by musical performances by Dominic Barnes (Glee), Luke Edgemon (The Voice, Glee), Kim Tillman (Tragic Gadget), the Gay Freedom Band, and more!

The Box Scene Project is another organization that began in fandom and has grown to be a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization doing good for the community. Their mission is to reach equal media representation for the LGBT community, women, people of color, people with disabilities, and those that live at the intersection of those identities.

Come early for the pre-show reception and stay late for the post-show VIP celebration!
